Scanning happens on your iPhone. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking. Your scans, the PDFs you create and any signatures you draw stay on your iPhone unless you choose to share or export them yourself.
One optional feature sends data off your device: DocSnap AI. It is off until you turn it on, and when you use it, the recognised text of the document you chose is sent to our service to be summarised, answered, translated or extracted. Your scans, photos and PDFs are never sent. The section below says exactly what this means.
This policy describes what the app actually does. It is written to be checked against the app's behaviour, not to reassure.
Nothing at all unless you use DocSnap AI. The app has no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no telemetry and no advertising framework, and it links only Apple frameworks. When you do use DocSnap AI, we process the recognised text of the document you chose, for the purpose of producing the result you asked for, and we do not store it afterwards.
DocSnap AI can summarise a document, answer questions about it, extract data from it, translate it, or suggest a name for it. That requires a model too large to run on a phone, so it runs on a server.
Nothing is ever sent automatically. The first time you open an AI feature, the app shows a screen stating what is sent and what is not, with an equally prominent way to decline. Declining leaves you with a fully working scanner. You can turn DocSnap AI off at any time in Settings › Document Intelligence.
Our service passes the text to OpenAI, which produces the result and returns it. OpenAI acts on our instructions: under the OpenAI API terms, data submitted through the API is not used to train their models. The text is used to answer your request and for nothing else.
Our service does not store your document text. It is held in memory long enough to produce the answer and then discarded. Our server logs record counts and timings — how many pages, how many characters, how long it took, whether it failed — and never the text, your question, the answer or the document's title.
OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs for a limited period for abuse monitoring, after which they are deleted. They are not used for training.
The results are stored on your iPhone, in the same protected place as your documents, so you can read them again without paying for the same analysis twice. They are deleted when you delete the document, and you can erase all of them at once in Settings › Document Intelligence › Delete Saved Analyses.
If a document looks like it contains a passport number, a payment card, bank details or medical information, DocSnap asks you to confirm before sending it. That check runs on your iPhone and its result is never transmitted or recorded.
AI output can be wrong. Every summary and answer shows the page it came from so you can check it. Do not rely on it for anything that matters without reading the cited page.

Scanning and text recognition run entirely on your device. Your scans, photos and PDFs are never uploaded — including by DocSnap AI, which sends text only.
Only when you make it happen, and only through iOS's own share sheet:
DocSnap has no direct integration with Mail, Messages, WhatsApp, Telegram, Dropbox, Google Drive or any other service. Once you share a file, what happens to it is governed by whichever app or service you chose.
There is none. DocSnap never asks for an email address, a password, a phone number or a sign-in of any kind. DocSnap AI identifies the app to our server using Apple's App Attest, which proves the request came from an unmodified copy of DocSnap. It says nothing about who you are: the key is generated on your device and is linked to no account and no identifier.
DocSnap Pro is an in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app asks Apple whether a purchase is active and stores only that yes/no answer, plus its expiry date, on your device so the app works offline.

DocSnap does not request access to your photo library (the system photo picker needs no permission), your location, contacts, microphone, calendars, health data or notifications.
Deleting a document in DocSnap moves it to Trash. Removing it from Trash deletes the document, its files and any AI analyses of it from your iPhone permanently. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
We hold no copy of your documents, because none is ever sent and the text that is sent for AI analysis is not stored.
DocSnap contains no user-generated content shared with other people, no messaging and no social features. It collects nothing from anyone of any age unless DocSnap AI is switched on and used, and then only the text of the document chosen for analysis.
Your documents are stored in the app's own container, which iOS keeps separate from other apps. You can additionally require Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode to open DocSnap; when that is on, the app also hides its contents in the iOS app switcher. Signatures are stored with file protection so they are unreadable while your device is locked.
No app can protect data on a device that someone else can unlock. DocSnap makes no claim to be unbreakable.
DocSnap AI was added in version 1.0 and this page was rewritten in the same release rather than afterwards. Any future feature that sends data anywhere will be handled the same way: documented here in the same release, and something you opt into rather than something that happens by default.
