What OCR changes
A normal scan is an image. It may look exactly like the paper, but a PDF reader cannot necessarily find a name or copy a sentence from it. Optical character recognition analyzes the shapes on the page and produces a text layer.
DocSnap uses Apple's Vision framework locally. Recognized text supports document-library search, TXT export, copying, and searchable PDF export without sending the page to a remote OCR service.
- Search by words printed inside a document
- Copy recognized passages instead of retyping
- Export plain text for another workflow
- Embed recognized text in a searchable PDF
OCR is an aid, not a transcription guarantee
Recognition quality depends on the image. Blur, shadows, curved pages, unusual typefaces, handwriting, and mixed columns can all produce errors.
Always compare names, account numbers, totals, and deadlines with the original page. For important records, keep the page image in the PDF so the source remains available next to the recognized text.
How it works
- 1
Capture a clear page
Sharp, evenly lit text gives OCR the best source.
- 2
Run recognition
DocSnap analyzes the page locally with Apple Vision.
- 3
Review important details
Compare critical numbers and names with the image.
- 4
Use the result
Search, copy, export TXT, or create a searchable PDF.
