Confirm what kind of signature is accepted
Many ordinary forms accept a placed handwritten electronic signature. Some regulated, legal, government, or enterprise workflows require a specific digital-signature platform, identity verification, or certificate.
Ask the recipient before signing if the requirement is unclear. A visual signature placed in a PDF is not automatically equivalent to every formal digital-signature standard.
Prepare the correct version
- Read the entire document before signing
- Confirm names, dates, amounts, and attachments
- Make sure this is the final version
- Keep an unsigned source copy
- Do not sign blank or incomplete fields unless intentionally allowed
